Pencil and Brick win the FMB Award London 2025

We’re incredibly proud to announce that our Islington townhouse renovation has won a Federation of Master Builders award for our project: A House with a Lion’s Head.

In our renovation of this Islington townhouse, we had one clear objective: to transform a traditional London home into a bright, functional space that enhances daily life. By incorporating a playful split-colour kitchen with custom joinery, a stunning stained-glass window, and a garden designed for seamless indoor-outdoor living, we created a space that is both stylish and personal.

It is a privilege to be recognised for our meticulous attention to detail and our dedication to crafting homes that bring true joy.

About us

Get to know us

We’re known for bringing a fresh, sometimes quirky approach to reimagining period homes blending contemporary flair with a deep respect for original character. Our work strikes a careful balance between old and new: thoughtful, playful, and never afraid of statement colour or bold design details.

We don’t follow design trends for their own sake, instead, we approach each home on its own terms, creating spaces that feel naturally light and open, or calm and atmospheric, depending on what suits it best.
