Why a boot wall?
Beautiful spacious boot rooms often just don’t fit into our London dwellings, and so that is where the idea of a Boot Wall was born; a clever, space-saving way to keep all your muddy boots, coats, and outdoor gear neat and tidy right in your hallway.
How much space do you need?
We’ve worked on many London Victorian terraces where space is tight, so it’s important to know how much room you’ll need. Sometimes, creating enough depth for a Boot Wall means opening up the next room to maximise the space. Around 300mm is the minimum for a functional Boot Wall. Every inch counts, so creativity is key when planning the layout.

Style tips for a boot wall
- Keep it tidy: Since the Boot Wall sits in your hallway, the first thing you see every day, it should be curated. Avoid overloading with shoes or coats you rarely use.
- Use open storage: Wet boots need to breathe. Closed cupboards can trap moisture and cause damage.
- Plan for the future: Consider what you need now and what you might need later. This is a long-term addition that should last 10 years or more.
- Invest in bespoke joinery: Handmade craftsmanship makes a Boot Wall feel like a thoughtfully designed part of your home. Off-the-shelf options often lack charm and quality.
- Light, neutral colours: Stick to soft shades to keep the hallway feeling open and to highlight the beauty of the joinery.
Why a boot wall works
A Boot Wall is more than a place to store shoes. It’s a hub for your family’s comings and goings, complete with benches, baskets, peg rails, and thoughtful details that make everyday life easier. If space is tight but you want an organised, stylish entryway, a Boot Wall could be the perfect solution. It maximises storage, looks beautiful, and creates a functional focal point for your home.
