Pencil and Brick are a Best of Houzz 2026 Winner for Design

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news. We’ve been named a Best of Houzz 2026 winner for the 10th time.

For a practice that started in Brick Lane back in 2012, this feels like a real milestone.

Houzz is one of the main places homeowners go when planning a renovation or extension. With more than 70 million homeowners using the platform and over 3 million industry professionals worldwide, it plays a big role in how people find the right architect for their home. Many of our own London renovation clients first discovered us there.

What the award means

The “Best of Houzz – Powered by Houzz Pro” awards are given annually in three categories: Design, Customer Service and Photography.

Design awards recognise work that proves most popular with the Houzz community. So this award reflects the response to our completed projects, not just a panel decision behind closed doors. That makes it even more special.

From Brick Lane to homes across London

We are an architecture and construction firm based in East London, specialising in London renovations, extensions and retrofit projects.

We won our first architectural project in 2012 and have been transforming tired, underused buildings into beautiful homes ever since. Residential design has always been at the heart of what we do. We care deeply about creating homes that are functional, meaningful and timeless, spaces that genuinely improve daily life.

In 2019, we launched our construction company, Pencil and Brick Ltd, to build our own design projects. We had seen too many clients feel disconnected once drawings were handed over to a separate contractor. By offering a design and build service in London, we created a smoother, more collaborative process and far greater control over quality.

Today, we deliver high quality, design focused renovation and retrofitting projects for homeowners across London. And while we build locally, we’re always happy to design for projects anywhere in the UK.

We’ve grown over the years, but we’ve kept our small but mighty approach. We know each other’s work inside out, and our clients never feel like just another job number. From the first conversation to the final handover, we focus on tailored solutions and a smooth, well managed experience.
